Yes, I was really in the band; Franklin High School 1963 - 1966. My band directors were Wayne Pegram who went on to teach many years at Tennessee Tech, and Mr. Moore. (I have no idea what happened to Mr. Moore.) Both were good men and good directors but Mr. Pegram was a true musician. He loved his job. Every moment he was doing something related to music. We never did win first place in any competition however, we always thought we were the best. We practiced for one hour every day during school and for two hours each Monday Night. We also had a one week band camp during the summer. Band camp was something I always looked forward to. We worked hard but we also played hard. I personally think that band should be a requirement for every student. It teaches so much more than music.
A blog about interesting and amusing things along the pathway of my life. I write this primarily for my children and grandchildren and for anyone else who might find it interesting.

What was Mr. Moore's first name?
My dad grew up in Antioch, TN. Later on my brother, Scott, attended Una Elementary around 1969-ish. I love to hear my dad say things like, "I remember when this was a dirt road." I'm glad to see that you are sharing your history with your family! I love it!
Shannon,
Mr. Moore's name was Bill. I assume that stands for William but he preferred Bill.
