The Lowly Pelican

Every year, in Florida, we see pelicans. They are fun birds to watch as they scout out their next meal and swoop down into the water in dive bomber fashion. They are amazingly accurate. They seldom miss their target. Once they have their prey in their beak they will fly back up into the air and swallow the fish while in mid flight.

I have tried for several years to get a decent picture of a Pelican but most are camera shy. This one decided to pose for me at the end of the peer at Fort DeSota State Park.
