A Moving Moment

Amidst all the things that seem to be wrong with America right now I am pleased to report that America still has a heart.

Generally I find airports depressing. I am not sure why but I seldom see happy people there. This past Friday I was at the airport waiting to pick up Linda. I was in the waiting area with about 50-60 other people. Four of those people were huddled together behind a hand held sign that read "We Love you Ron Lee."  In a few moments people began to trickle from the plane toward the exit area where we were waiting. A young soldier, dressed in fatigues, began walking toward us. He was immediately met, with a warm embrace, by his wife carrying a small American flag. At first I felt a little embarrassed as if I were invading a private moment. Then someone in the crowd said "Good for you buddy, good for you." Then there was spontaneous applause that lasted for a minute or so as the rest of the family gathered around to welcome their hero home.

It is really good to know that America still has a heart.
