Normally I am not a violent person. I usually take pretty much everything in stride. However, when I pulled into the gas station to fill up my truck and it cost me in excess of $80. I finally said enough is enough. I can't take this any longer. I have decided that it is time to park the truck. It will now become the extra vehicle in the driveway.
The old red jeep is no longer. I purchased the red jeep in 1999. It had 160,000 miles when I purchased, it. It had 230,000 when I traded it. It was a good vehicle and fun to drive.
In my effort to fight back against high gas prices I have purchased a 2003 Toyota Matrix. It has a 1.8 liter engine and a six speed transmission. I am not sure how many miles to the gallon it will get but I am pretty sure it will beat the 14mpg that the truck was getting.
Like most used cars the gas tank was on empty when I bought it. I pulled into the gas station and filled it up; $30. I am liking it already.
It is a fun little car to drive but there is a lot of shifting involved.

Was the $30 before or after the price hike to $3.25 per gallon? I happened to see one still at $2.88 on my way home from school yesterday and was almost giddy. I never thought I would be happy to fill up at $2.88.
$3.25? Only the premium grade has gone above $3.00 here.
I found out that the Toyota has a 13.2 gallon tank. I put in just over 10 gallons so it was not quite empty even though the gage showed empty.
Way to Go! Your mode of transportation has always defied what a typical clergyman would drive. So, when's the bike coming back????? Hannah's really missing out, you know.
