The Ultimate Digital Camera

By now it is no secret to anyone that I like photography. The advent of digital photography opened up a new world of adventure and excitement for me. I bought my first digital camera about 6 years ago. After much research and thought I decided on the Sony DSC 727 with 5 megpixels. At the time this was about the best non professional model a person could buy.

Not long after that purchase they began making Digital SLR's naturally I wanted one but I resisted until last year. After much research and thought I purchased a Nikon D50. Not exactly the top of the line but respectable at 6.1 megapixels.

Since then the Digital Camera market has exploded. The next step up for me would be a low end professional model. Possibly a Nikon D200 10.1 megapixels at a price of about $1600. or maybe a Canon 5D at a price of $2500. Notice that these are low end professional models. The next step up would be cameras in the 16 megapixel range at a cost of $5000+.

Last night I decided that since I was dreaming, I might as well dream big. What would be the ultimate Digital Camera. I picked up a Photography magazine and low and behold there it was, the Hasselblad H3D. Class, can you say 39 megapixels? Very good, now can you say $32,000.? That's okay! I get chocked up when I try to say it to.

A little research revealed that the Swedish company that makes this camera has models that go all the way up to $50,000. It appears that cameras on the space missions are made by this company.

I know that for me it is just a dream but can you imagine holding a camera that costs more than a fancy sports car.

Okay, back to reality. The Nikon D200 seems like a reasonable upgrade for about $1600.
